Dead Ends

Concrete alleyways
I once lived here
The city was never-ending-
You are a different story;

                                            Four

Arms intermingled-

                                            Fourteen

Wishes-

                                            Fourteen

Denials-

Where do I start?
I will try and I must
To come to terms with this story;
Writing is the first step

Indecision

We sat permeating
Stagnating
Penetrating-
Silence

                                                       Is

Senseless motion and longing and dread
I dread you
I love you-
Pain

                                                       It

Tickles my eyes
Unkempt and foggy:
My solemn necessity
I bid you farewell-
Gentle farewells become
Lasting

                                                       Over

The grassy sidewalks that come and go
I’ll ring the doorbell
Until you let me in
Bound for where?
No one knows- between the buried
And the dead

I Have to Tell Myself

Tell myself oh well
Hi, how are you doing
Introduce us, then begin
Hours falling away
I own a pile of rust

Philosophically speaking-
Philosophical dust

We rest our heads in places
I had rest my head before
He the likewise
Wise all the same
Yet with all my watches
With all my clocks ticking away
Our times cannot collide

I wait for his words
Words I tell myself-
It's a crying shame

Bodies

Perfunctory and languid,
Branding their plagiarist decrees
On lined, pressed paper.

Not a glance upward,
Steady gaze downward.

Almost
Like I’m the only one alive in this
Void of “Text This, Text That.”
Where no

Human
Could still be dragged from
Beneath the bed
Where the monster lies.

Almost
Like I’m the only one to survive this
                   Holocaust of classic
                   Thought.

Human
Instinct to “monkey see, monkey do.”

Almost
Like my time was over as theirs began,
Although we were at the same time.
                   And I am left behind where I feel safe;
Where I can say that I’m

“Human”.

Then a soft voice
Tells me I’m going
Nowhere.

Like the numb fingers
                         Have found my womb

                              Inescapable.
